This film is both a nastolgic scrapbook of how Jews madie it in the clothing buisness and a critique of corporate culture. Produced by HBO films, we get a look at the Garment District in Manhattan that was a pathway to the American Dream for unskilled immigrants, including Eastern European Jews who called it the schmatta (Yiddish for rags) buisness. Today it exist mostly in the memories of former cutter, seamstresses, tailors and pattern makers, but the film tells the fascinating story of this vanishing industry and the human faces behind it.
